I initially joined Hubpages in 2012, when I found myself with unexpected free time between graduate school and my professional career. Finding myself unemployed after graduation was something I was not accustomed to, and finding ways to maintain my sanity was difficult at times.I found that writing Hubs allowed me to spend my free time in a productive manner and share my thoughts with others. A hub I wrote out of boredem, “10 Things Nurses Don’t Want You To Know,” went viral one year after I wrote it, earning more than $5,000 in a week. With these earnings, I was able to enjoy my "unpaid" maternity leave and focus on being a new mom, rather than stressing about finances during those short eight weeks. The hub continues to provide a source of income, but its viral popularity will remain a mystery to me.

I am also a proud supporter of JDRF as I have been a Type I diabetic for over 20 years. I love any new gadget, app, or software that helps me make my life easier. Diabetes is just a way of life for me and it hasn't slowed me down yet.
