**Update: I took a lot of time off from writing. Lots has changed in the past 2 years. I moved to Wilmington, NC, met and fell in love with the man of my dreams, got married, and moved to Miami, FL. We're settling in here and I'd like to get back to writing soon. For those of you still tuning in, thank you for your loyalty and perseverance. I hope to have something for you in the near future.**
Thank you for stopping by! While visiting, you will find articles mostly centered around psychiatric nursing, nursing education, baking, and cooking.
I have been a registered nurse since 2004. Since then, I have worked in cardiac care and mental health services. In 2006, I began teaching in a registered nursing program. I teach Mental Health Nursing and have worked at an in-patient psychiatric health care facility. I am an ANCC board certified psychiatric mental health nurse. I also have taught Death & Dying, Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology for Nursing, and some med-surg and critical care clinical courses. Psychiatric nursing and teaching are my life passions. I hope to help educate not only future nurses, but also the public on the many issues associated with mental illness.
Baking is my favorite coping skill. I find that I can become immersed in a recipe and find joy in sharing that with others, so I sometimes write about that as well.
Also, I have an Australian shepherd, Tanga, who provides me with as much joy as anything else in my life. She and I love to play frisbee! You may see her now and again in my articles. I hope you enjoy visiting and feel free to stop by any time. I love questions and comments and almost always write back within a day or two.
